Quarry Products Newcastle

HISTORY

Quarry Products Newcastle is a family quarry business that has been operating from its current site since the late 1970s.

Alan Frost and his brothers started quarrying back in the 1950s at Townsville Qld. Later in the 50’s they commenced a quarry on the northern side of Raymond Terrace NSW. He sold the business in 1964 and went to Queensland to develop a new concept of a mobile quarrying service to provide rail ballast for the expanding rail network throughout Queensland. Along with his brothers, Alan eventually consolidated a number of permanent quarries in Townsville, Mackay and Gladstone.

At the same time, in the early 1970s, Alan Frost and his sons started a new independent quarrying organisation called Quarry Products at Toowoomba. This was followed in 1979 with the establishment of Quarry Products Newcastle on a green field site at Allandale.

Toowoomba is a high grade basalt quarry servicing the Darling Downs agricultural area and Toowoomba.

Allandale is a Hypesthene Andesite quarry, servicing the Lower Hunter region of NSW.
